John Connaughton is Co-Managing Partner of Bain Capital, a leading global alternative investment firm with approximately $160 billion in assets under management in five continents with leading positions in private equity, alternative credit, venture capital and real estate. Mr. Connaughton also has served as the global head of the private equity business since 2011. Since joining the firm in 1989, Mr. Connaughton also lead the global heathcare investing activity and played a leading role in a wide spectrum of prominent healthcare businesses in which Bain Capital Private Equity has made investments. Prior to Bain Capital, Mr. Connaughton was a strategy consultant at Bain and Company.
Mr. Connaughton currently serves on the boards of IQVIA Holdings Inc. (IQV–NYSE) and the Boston Celtics. Mr. Connaughton previously sat on over two dozen private and public boards including iHeart Media Inc. (IHRT-OTC), Grupo NotreDame Intermedica (GNDI-BR), HCA Inc. (HCA-NYSE), Warner Chilcott (WCRX-Nasdaq), Warner Music Group (WMG-NYSE), ProSieben Sat.1.Media ag (PBSFY), and Stericycle, Inc. (SRCL-Nasdaq).
He is also active in a number of charitable and civic activities including serving as a member of the Berklee College of Music Board of Trustees, the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce Foundation Board, the University of Virginia Investment Management Company (UVIMCO), the Harvard Business School Dean's Advisory Board, the Brigham & Women's Hospital Board of Trustees, The GreenLight Fund Board of Directors, and the Bain Capital Community Partnership.
Mr. Connaughton received a B.S. in Commerce with Distinction from the University of Virginia and an M.B.A. with High Distinction from Harvard Business School, where he was a Baker scholar.
