Ben Bernanke’s research areas are macroeconomics, monetary economics, and economic history. He has held faculty positions at Stanford Graduate School of Business (1979-85) and Princeton University (1985-2002). His policy experience includes being a member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve (2002-05); chair of the Council of Economic Advisers (2005-06); and chair of the Federal Reserve (2006-2014). He is currently a Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution. He holds a BA from Harvard (1975) and a Ph.D. in economics from MIT (1979).
